Understanding the Top Labels View in Site Topic
Step-by-Step Instructions for Using the Top Labels View
Step 1: Access the Top Labels View
Open your Site Topic Report.
Navigate to the Top Labels Report, which shows the top labels by label group.
Step 2: Understand Labels and Label Groups
Labels are slices of your keywords, categorized by type (e.g., smartphones, laptops, tablets).
Label Groups are broader categories that organize labels (e.g., brands, product lines, models).
Step 3: View Total Search Volume
The numbers in parentheses next to each label represent the total search volume.
• Total search volume is calculated by adding up the search volume of all keywords associated with a specific label.
• Example: For the brand Apple, the total search volume is the sum of all keywords with Apple-related intent.
Step 4: Sort and Filter Columns
Sort the columns to organize the data:
• By default, the report is sorted by total search volume.
• You can also sort by the number of keywords associated with a label.
Step 5: Explore Keywords for a Specific Label
Click the dropdown arrow next to a label to see the associated keywords.
• Example: Click on Garmin to view keywords like “Vivoractive 5” or “Phoenix 7.”
Note that some keywords have implicit intent:
• Example: “Vivoractive 5” implies Garmin intent, even though the keyword doesn’t explicitly mention Garmin.
Step 6: Use the Search Functionality
Use the search bar to find specific labels or brands.
• Example: Search for Dyson to view all related keywords and search volumes.
Browse through multiple pages of labels if there are many results (e.g., 500+ brands).
Step 7: Zoom In on Label Groups (Optional) Use the zoom functionality to focus on a specific brand or product line.
• Example: Zoom in on Apple to see only categories, product lines, and models related to Apple.
• Example 2: Filter to view only iPhones and see a list of iPhone models.
Step 8: Analyze Ranking Pages For specific labels or models, you can view which pages are ranking for those keywords.
• Example: For iPhone models, see which Curry’s pages are ranking for keywords like “iPhone 14” or “iPhone 15.”
