Synonyms
Site Topic recognises synonyms in many different forms. From the ‘regular’ synonyms like shoe and footwear that have similar meanings, to the synonyms that have the same exact meanings like spelling mistakes. These synonyms sometimes pose a problem for data analytics, however Site Topic is able to recognize synonyms, once again creating a more accurate data insight. Synonyms can be difficult for computers to recognise as a software doesn’t register the meaning behind the words, but only what letters make up that word. So to then learn that the letters b-i-g behind each other mean the same as the letters l-a-r-g-e in some contexts can cause confusion. This can cause the AI software to place the synonyms in different categories or, as we call them, labels.
Examples in Site Topic
However this confusion isn’t seen in Site Topic. Here it is often able to recognise words that have the same meaning and therefore also give them the same label. For example it puts the keyword homes for sale in Bali
in the label group and label type: house
, additionally it puts the keyword moving into a new house
in the label group and label type: house
. This shows that it recognises that homes and house are synonyms and gives them both the label house
.
homes for sale in Bali → type: house moving into a new house → type: house
Another example of the recognition of synonyms is in the spelling of a certain word. An example of this is that it recognises iohone and iphone to be the same word. Because of this it gives the keyword iohone for sale
the label iphone
.
iohone for sale → category: iphone
Some other example of when Site Topic recognises synonyms are:
timberwolf color → attribute: colour
buy a mansion → service: purchase
Louis Vuitton pumps → type: shoes
silly car → type: vehicle
Why is this useful?
The ability to recognise these synonyms can be highly useful, as it makes sure the final data insight given on the Site Topic website is complete and doesn’t contain mistakes due to its inability to recognise synonyms. You could imagine it as loads of jigsaw puzzles put together in one box. By being able to recognise which pieces form one picture, or the synonyms that have the same meaning, you are able to separate the puzzles and form clear pictures. The same happens to the data analyzed by Site Topic, resulting in a clear picture for the resulting data insight.
